DAMI (ca. 60 cm) – Last Update 02/2026 – Currently in search of a understanding home, DAMI is currently at the animal shelter in Greece. DAMI and his sister Dorothy (rehomed) were found alone on the streets in early 2022, at only a few weeks old, and were taken in by our cooperative shelter. Since then, DAMI has been eagerly waiting for a home. DAMI is a sporty dog looking for experienced dog owners. In his life so far, he hasn’t had much good fortune – hence, he approaches new situations with some skepticism. Strangers, unfamiliar sounds, or sudden movements can unsettle him, and he needs time to build trust. We hope for a quiet, dog-experienced home where DAMI can take his time to adjust. People who can read him, provide security, and work with him using positive, loving guidance. Small children or a hectic environment would overwhelm him, and we primarily see him as a single dog. Once DAMI has built trust with a person, he allows being handled and reacts and interacts very well through body language. A certain level of skepticism remains. DAMI is still at the very beginning of his training and has not experienced life outside of the shelter. Therefore, his new owners should bring enough time and experience. He has also not lived in a house before. We hope that it’s not too late for DAMI and that he doesn’t spend his entire life in a cage. Children in the household must be at least 16 years old and be able to meet the dog’s needs. We note that DAMI is an unknown breed mix (possibly a herder mix). We are happy to send videos upon request. DAMI travels neutered, vaccinated, with an identification chip, and an EU pet passport. He will be tested for travel diseases before travel arrangements. If you rent, you must provide a written confirmation from your landlord that the care of a dog is permitted. This important point should be clarified before a match request.

About Dimi

What life with Dimi looks like

Dimi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
