Dino &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

A friendly animal protection organization must reduce its Gnadenhof and unfortunately part ways with some of the animals. We at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional would like to support and are happy to help place a few dogs. Dino originally came from Romania and has a turbulent and not easy past. In Romania, he was kept on a chain and had to endure this life situation as an actually active dog for about three to four years, until he was adopted by a young couple from Switzerland and moved to Switzerland. Unfortunately, no real bond could be established by his former owners. Dino is indeed very people-oriented and builds a relationship with people relatively quickly. He likes to be near people and wants to please them. The appeal works very well. Since he never really learned to walk on a leash, he still occasionally pulls and needs further perfection. He gets along well with fellow animals, but has been living in a large pack for two years now and does not really find peace there. His longing for attention and care is palpable. If he feels this personal affection is lacking too much, he compensates with food. This led to weight gain in the past. Dino is a lovable companion with great potential. He needs loving and patient people who meet his individual needs, adopt him as a full-fledged family member, and integrate him into everyday life. Also to a family with slightly older and responsible children. Dino is vaccinated, microchipped, and rehomed. If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet them informally, apply using the button below, and we will contact you, respectively the Gnadenhof will contact you as soon as possible. We thank you for your understanding if the processing of your request takes a little longer. We will do our best to give you a response as soon as possible. However, it may happen that many requests come in at the same time or that our resources are temporarily urgently needed elsewhere.

About Dino &#8211

What life with Dino &#8211 looks like

Dino &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dino &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dino &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dino &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dino &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dino &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dino &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dino &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
