Dino

Male · Senior · 9 years

Dino is a dog hard to miss - cheerful, lively, really intelligent and extremely eager for human contact. His optimism and joy are contagious to everyone! He loves people, closeness and attention - not without reason he is sometimes called "the charming companion". On walks, he gladly cooperates with the handler, knows commands, learns quickly and enthusiastically reacts to new tasks. He loves sniffing, running, toys, sticks and water - water is his element. He is about 9 years old and has already spent over 1000 days in the animal shelter. His fur has some gray hairs, but he still has plenty of energy. This is a dog who very much needs his person and stability - a place where he can finally stay forever. His physical and mental needs are significant, and one short walk a day is not enough. This is a dog who needs regular activity, mental work and smart direction of his (mega positive!) energy. In the right hands, he can be a wonderful, loyal friend. In his history, he has had more difficult experiences - he returned from adoption twice. He does not tolerate sudden changes and needs some time to feel safe. That's why we are looking for an experienced, calm caregiver who can read dog signals, will be consistent and ready to work with an extremely smart dog. Relationships with others: • dogs: good, but the human is most important for Dina • cats: present hunting instinct - may chase • children: best above 13 years old • home: active caregiver, house or apartment with good access to green areas If you are looking for a dog for an active life, you are ready for responsibility and work, not just an easy adoption - Dino may be just that one, special dog.

About Dino

What life with Dino looks like

Dino is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: High exercise and mental stimulation needs, history of two failed adoptions, needs time to adjust to changes

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
