Diva

Female · Adult · 10 years

- friendly and self-assured - needs a quiet home - single cat - house-trained Diva came into our care as a court-ordered custody. Now we are searching for a loving home for her. At first, Diva was quite reserved and needed some time to warm up. Once she gained trust, she turned out to be a friendly little velvet paw, living up to her name: Diva isn't afraid to make her needs known – or not. A quiet home without children is exactly right for the little mouse. Unfortunately, Diva also carries her burden: she has thyroid issues for which she takes medication without any problems. For this reason, she cannot have an unrestricted roam, but a large escape-proof balcony or a secured terrace is a must for Diva to prevent her from getting bored. Other cats are not necessary for Diva to be happy, which is why we are only placing her as a single princess. She would be thrilled with a comfortable scratching post.

DE·Show original

About Diva

What life with Diva looks like

Diva is a extra-large adult cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Thyroid problems requiring daily medication, needs secured outdoor access (balcony/terrace), no unrestricted outdoor access allowed

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
