Adopt Django

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Spaying is the best way to affect the number of homeless dogs in Romania. Therefore, Care for Dogs' shelter kennel has invested for years precisely in sterilization work in the nearby areas. Whenever possible, the farm's spay team goes to collect free-roaming owned and homeless animals from the shelter kennel in the nearby areas. The dogs are spayed and then returned. Also, Django ended up at the shelter kennel for the first time for spaying. A report was made from a nearby village about a free-roaming homeless dog that should be spayed. After Djangos recovery from the operation, a man living in the village reported that he wanted to adopt him and therefore Django temporarily ended up at his home. However, shortly after, the man reported that he no longer wanted the dog and therefore Django eventually ended up back at the shelter kennel through a small detour, where he is now waiting for his permanent home. Django is like a huge puppy. He loves people so much that he doesn't always remember to be cautious and especially at the shelter kennel where human contact is limited, Djangos reception is often very fast and happy. Although his love for people is sometimes overflowing and great, he otherwise appears very balanced at the shelter kennel. When nothing happens, he happily lies on his back in the sun or plays alone with toys. Django loves walks and is always ready for anyone's walk. Despite his energy, he walks surprisingly nicely on a leash. He loves all kinds of games and often it seems like he has a little twinkle in his eye. At the same time, Django is really eager to please and he seems to be constantly watching what the person expects from him. He hasn't gotten along with other dogs in the same kennel run at the shelter kennel, so for safety, a home is being sought for him where he could be the only one with a watchful eye.

Steriloinnit ovat paras tapa vaikuttaa Romanian kodittomien koirien määrään. Siksi Care for Dogsin tarhalla on jo vuosia panostettu nimenomaan lähialueiden sterilointityöhön.

About Django

What life with Django looks like

Django is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Django, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Django?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Django on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Django if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Django already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Django isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Django and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
