Django

At the animal shelter since: December 2024 Estimated age: Born around November 2021 Estimated shoulder height:约60–69厘米 Learn about Django directly in the video and fall in love with him! Abandoned and given away – Django finally wants to arrive! This furry nose once had a home. However, Romanian dogs are quickly brought to the animal shelter or abandoned if they, for example, do not adequately guard the property. Learn more about dogs in Romania in our animal welfare FAQ. At our animal shelter, Django shows himself as a young, absolutely human-oriented and affectionate male dog who enjoys all attention. Already at the kennel run, Django makes it clear how much he seeks contact: He joyfully jumps on the fence, sniffs, allows himself to be petted, and runs behind visitors wagging his tail. He loves being stroked and scratched, and actively requests affection, sometimes a bit stormy, but always friendly. On the playground, he displays his playful side: He runs around full of joy, plays excitedly with the ball, or lies down relaxed in the sun. Towards people, Django is a true treasure, cuddly, playful, and eager to learn. However, due to his size and strength, he needs clear, confident leadership so that he does not become too intrusive. He understands quickly when boundaries are set and wants to please his trusted people. Django has a scar on his muzzle. This is not uncommon in Romania. Many people still believe there that burning a dog's muzzle protects them from diseases. The scar does not hinder this furry nose at all. So far, Django has struggled with other dogs. Up until now, no suitable kennel companion has been found for him, which is why he currently lives alone. For his future home, he would therefore be ideal as a single dog who receives the full attention of his humans. We wish for this furry nose people who are aware that shelter dogs come with a certain history. We can never predict at the animal shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are thinking about adopting, read through the adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before travel arrangements (the exception being puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to send a message to our placement team.

About Django

What life with Django looks like

Django is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Django, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Django?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Django on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Django if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Django already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Django isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Django and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
