Adopt Dobby

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Dobby. Breed: Mix. Gender: Male. Age: 07.03.2021. Housing: No information. ID: 24138 Dobby came to us some time ago as a seizure, as he had bitten his owner. Now he is cleared and we are allowed to find him a suitable home. Originally, he came as a puppy from abroad. We are now at least the 5th owner, although he is only 3 years old. Dobby shows himself in the best light with us and is one of our dogs that show the least amount of issues while with us. He can communicate clearly and finely, both with other dogs and with humans. He fits seamlessly into our dog group. Dobby learns quickly and accepts rules and boundaries very well. In off-leash areas, he shows curiosity towards strangers. He also meets children in a friendly manner. He is vigilant but can be easily redirected by us. We are looking for people for Dobby who are aware of the responsibility. People who take this dog seriously. People who do not perceive the muzzle as something "bad." The muzzle does not limit him, but rather allows him more freedoms, and he wears it without any problems. People who can read a dog's body language and have the desire to work with him and promote him. Emergency animal: No. Found animal: No. Rehomed:

About Dobby

What life with Dobby looks like

Dobby is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Geldern in Geldern.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Geldern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Geldern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Geldern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
