Adopt Dojano

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Care for Dogs shelter kennel is located in the middle of the mountains. In Romania, there are still strong shepherding traditions in the countryside, especially in the mountains, and many sheepdogs that guard flocks live in these areas. Unfortunately, most of these dogs are seen as working tools, and their treatment is often poor. In February 2021, Delia, who maintains the Care for Dogs farm, received a report about a shepherd who kept his dog tied to a chain in the yard. The dogs were in poor condition and clearly not cared for at all. Therefore, Delia took the dogs to safety at her farm. One of the dogs rescued from the shepherd is a beautiful Dojano. Since arriving at the shelter kennel, he has been very shy around people, which is not surprising, as his previous experiences with people before the farm were probably not good. Therefore, he has been frozen in the shelter kennel waiting for someone who would see the gentle personality hidden behind his initial shyness. Dojano is happy and affectionate, but has a shy personality. He gets nervous around strangers and always keeps a small distance from them, but he is more relaxed with familiar people. Familiar people can handle Dojano and, gradually, he has even gone on walks with them a few times. Although initially, the leash and walking were stressful for him, Dojano has quickly gotten used to new things, and now he dares to go for runs and get excited about running. Dojano has lived in the shelter kennel in several different arrangements, and at this time, he shares his crate with a very strong-willed dog. It seems that he will get along nicely with different dogs and knows how to skillfully avoid conflicts. In his crate, Dojano loves to play with his dog friends, and when he feels comfortable, he is really playful and happy. Due to his shyness, he needs a home or foster home where there is prior experience with shy dogs. Due to his likely herding background, Dojano is looking for a house.

Care for Dogsin tarha sijaitsee vuorien keskellä. Helmikuussa 2021 Care for Dogsin tarhaa ylläpitävä Delia sai ilmoituksen eräästä paimenesta, joka piti koiriaan pihalla ketjun päässä. Koirat olivat huonokuntoisia eikä heistä selvästi pidetty lainkaan huolta. Niinpä Delia otti koirat turvaan tarhalleen. Yksi näistä paimenelta pelastuneista koirista on kaunis Dojano.

About Dojano

What life with Dojano looks like

Dojano is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dojano, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dojano?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dojano on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dojano if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dojano already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dojano isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dojano and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
