Dolo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

The athletic, brown-and-white beauty Dolo is on the lookout for his team or his people. He is an exceptionally handsome, friendly, and lovable male dog who wants to "belong." Sports, play, and fun together with his team partner/partner would bring him so much joy. To that end, he just needs the right home with real team people who can give and want what he so desperately misses. He gets along wonderfully with fellow animals, walks beautifully on a leash, and loves to go for walks and be out in nature. We are searching for a lovely home for Dolo with people who already have dog experience (perhaps even with Podencos?). Dog experience helps with Dolo because he is still young, has a lot to learn, and needs the right amount of experience and understanding to help him build his "team" with a human and dog without pressure and with loving consequences – so that living together will work as well as possible. In a family, it would be nice if the children are already older and can also handle dogs with understanding and sensitivity. Dolo is a large, energetic dog. He will also want to work off his energy, and his person must be able to handle that. Dolo is very affectionate, people-oriented, friendly, and obedient. He probably (and fortunately) has never had any bad experiences. These are excellent prerequisites for settling into his future home. There is – as is often the case with dogs from animal shelters – nothing known about Dolos' past. He was picked up in the streets of La Almunia and came to a cat animal shelter because at first there was no other solution for him. There, he had to endure a very small pen (originally for cats) until a place in a suitable animal shelter was found. The circumstances and situation that he endured would not have been bearable for every dog, and it speaks to Dolos' patience, adaptability, trust, and kindness. It would be the most beautiful thing for Dolo to be able to live in the company of loving, active people and, perhaps, other dogs in the future. A rural environment would be a dream for him, and a garden where he can run, play, and frolic. With love, time, patience, training, consistency, and understanding, he will surely become a wonderful, trusting team partner who will happily accompany his people: in everyday situations, at sports, or on "adventures" in nature.

DE·Show original

About Dolo

What life with Dolo looks like

Dolo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
