Dolores

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 4 years

Meet Dolores! Delores is a lovely girl with a big heart and plenty of love to give. This affectionate lady absolutely adores attention and loves nothing more than a good fuss. If you’re looking for a companion wo will happily climb onto your lap for cuddles, Delores could be the girl for you! She loves saying hello to everyone she meets and is always keen to make new friends. She’s a friendly, people-loving girl who enjoys being around her humans and soaking up all the attention she can get. Like all of us, Delores has a few things she’ll need some help with. When staff are cleaning her kennel, she can become over excited and will chase and bite the shovel, so she’ll need patient guidance and positive training to help her learn calmer behaviours. She also currently toilets in her bed, so she will need support with her toilet training and a consistent routine in her new home. Delores is looking for a loving, understanding family who will see her potential, give her time to settle in and help her learn. In return, you can expect plenty of affection, lots of fuss and a girl who will be more than happy to snuggle up close to you. She would benefit from a private secure garden so she can safely have some off-lead time outside. Delores has interacted with other dogs while in our care, and although she is happy to walk along-side them she doesn’t like them sniffing her back end or getting in her face, so we feel she would be happiest being rehomed as the only dog in the home. As Delores came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 16+ years.

About Dolores

What life with Dolores looks like

Dolores is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dolores, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dolores?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dolores on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dolores if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dolores already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dolores isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dolores and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
