Domino

Border Collie · Male · Young · 3 years

He loves his training and being very food motivated, you can teach him literally anything! Following a track laid by a person is his new favourite past time. He also loves getting out for big outdoors adventures, so be prepared for lots of wonderful hikes with him by your side or likely leading the way! He even travels well in the car. He can worried by other dogs but we’re working on this with him and will happily guide you through the best way to continue in the home. He can be worried by people he doesn’t know and is taking medication for his anxieties. Don’t let this put you off though as he has a great introduction plan and once you are his pal he loves nothing more than a snuggle. Our Vet will discuss the medication in more detail with potential adopters. Are you looking for the perfect outdoors adventure buddy? Then meet Domino! He’s a 2yr old Crossbreed who just LOVES life! He’s full of fun, super smart and bursting with the kind of personality that will never fail to make you smile. Originally found as a stray, Dom has come a long way with his training and proven that he’s going to be a real asset to the right home. He needs a calm home where he can follow a consistent routine, so he’ll need to be the only pet in an adult only household with a fully secure garden to play in. He will also need someone around all the time for a while to settle him in properly.

About Domino

What life with Domino looks like

Domino is a large young adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Leeds in Leeds.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Domino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Domino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Leeds handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Domino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Domino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Leeds will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Domino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Domino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Leeds early rather than rehoming privately; they know Domino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
