Adopt Don Bas

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Beautiful "fifek" for a strong hug Don Bas... Where did he come from, an easy riddle, but his life was hard. When looking at this honest creature, it's impossible to believe that the world treated him with drastic cruelty. It can't be true, it simply doesn't add up. Shrapnel fragments don't fit soft fur and innocent hearts. And yet... Actually, we don't know exactly what happened to Don Baa. We know where he was evacuated from and that he arrived here terrified, sick, with an eye that was only suitable for enucleation. However, the most important and least likely thing we know about him is that although initially the new place and every loud noise stressed him, he still remained trusting towards humans. War did not change his sweet, gentle nature. He didn't forget how to receive and give love. Don Bas will snuggle into you whenever you want. He will allow himself to have his beautiful, long hair brushed and will present his belly for petting. He likes the game of "rolling balls through holes," which is a flat box with balls and holes where you can catch them. A bowl is an object of interest. He is a classic, lazy tabby. His outbursts of temper are limited to occasional squabbles with the Roomba. We don't know what Don Bas says to the vacuum cleaner, it sounds a bit like "I'll rip out your battery and fill the suction module," but fortunately, there have never been any fights. He is gentle, he is beautiful, he is sweet, but... The lack of one eye is not the only thing that has happened to this velvet soul. Don Bas carries FIV, a virus that can hide for years, but when it attacks, the cat needs careful care. Does our sweet, soft cuddle deserve kindness and goodness? An idiotic question. Did he previously deserve pain, hunger, and loss of an eye? It's not about justice, but about love. Something that appears in us like the sun in the morning and sweeps the darkness from the soul. If you can love, Don Bas is for you, Don Bas, he will fit you, because he can love. The guy is about four years old, vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, chipped, Felv test was negative, FIV, unfortunately, positive, beauty and gentleness are definitely above average. *Our love for blind cats knows no limits, that's why we have adoptions in Poland and beyond our country.

Piękny „fifek” do mocnego przytulenia Don Bas… Skąd przybył, nietrudna zagadka, trudne to on miał życie. A jednak… Pozwoli sobie rozczesać piękne, długie loki i wystawi brzuszek do głaskania. Miseczka to istotny obiekt zainteresowań. ☎️ 500 383 928 📧

About Don Bas

What life with Don Bas looks like

Don Bas is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Don Bas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Don Bas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Don Bas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Don Bas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Don Bas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Don Bas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Don Bas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
