💗 DONA 💗 JADR-SUS 📍 Location: Croatia, near Zadar - can be visited at any time 🐾 General Information: • Name: DONA • Age: born on 01.10.2024 • Gender: female 🐾 Health: • General Condition: good • Spayed • Weight: approx. 30 kg • Height: approx. 57 cm The descriptions of the dogs by the shelters in Croatia are based on current impressions on site and do not guarantee future behavior or the development of the dog. 🐾 Personality & Behavior: Dona is a beautiful female dog with a calm, dignified presence. She meets her surroundings with ease and balance, possessing a special elegance that is rarely seen. Her past is largely shrouded in mystery. Found abandoned outside a hospital, where staff members tended to her affectionately for several days before bringing her to an animal shelter. No one knows what she experienced before. But one thing is immediately clear: Dona must have once had a home. She is well-mannered, friendly, and familiar with human interaction. Today, she lives with several large dogs and shows absolute social and compatible behavior. However, she often seeks out quiet places and retreats to a quiet spot. The animal shelter does not seem to be the place where she truly feels at home. People meet Dona with great warmth, affection, and gentleness. She enjoys attention and shared time very much. Especially during walks, she blossoms and shows her lively side. Then she appears happy and full of hope. Dona is a uncomplicated, obedient, and balanced companion who longs for a person who will again give her security and show her that she has finally arrived. 🐾 Special Preferences: • Calm and balanced • Very loving and gentle • People-oriented and clingy • Compatible with other dogs • Obedient and uncomplicated • Enjoys walks and shared time • Dignified and friendly presence • Loves closeness and attention 💌 How You Can Help:

About Dona

What life with Dona looks like

Dona is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
