Donaut

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Donaut is a gentle, 11-kilogram dog born in 2023 who is still learning that humans can be good and safe. His eyes show both curiosity and uncertainty – he would like to come closer, but courage is still losing to fear. This is a dog that needs time, patience, and calmness to slowly open up to the world. For whom is this dog? For empathetic, patient, and calm people – those who can give the dog space and won't expect immediate closeness. Donaut will not find his place in a loud, chaotic home, but with a gentle caregiver who respects his pace, he will eventually show his true nature – sensitive, kind, and loyal. Who are we looking for? We are looking for a home where the new caregiver understands that this is a process. Donaut does not know commands yet, but we have already taught him to walk on a leash. In the kennel run, he is happy to see a person, but when the leash appears, he immediately withdraws. Thanks to treats, he was encouraged to approach, and even pick up – without the slightest aggression, just uncertainty. Outside the crate, stress still takes over. All of this shows how much he needs a person who will teach him to trust step by step. What's worth knowing about him? He has a medium energy level and great potential for working with a human. He loves treats – his biggest motivation and way to overcome fear. He is not aggressive, allows himself to be touched and picked up, which shows that he has the willingness to change, but needs more time to feel secure outside the crate. This is a sensitive guy who doesn't need pity, but a wise guide. In the right hands, he will surely open up and show that he is capable of loving with all his heart. Fill out the adoption questionnaire and come meet Donaut, maybe it's you who will help him take his first step toward trust and a real home. Wypełnij ankietę adopcyjną i przyjedź poznać Donauta, może to właśnie Ty pomożesz mu zrobić pierwszy krok ku zaufaniu i prawdziwemu domowi. About Donaut

What life with Donaut looks like

Donaut is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donaut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donaut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donaut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donaut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donaut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donaut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donaut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
