Adopt Donna

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Donna is an 11-year-old Labradoodle mix from Croatia that doesn't show her age at all – she is fit, active, and still very young at heart. Only in December 2024 did she travel to Germany and experience her first "proper" family life. Donna has quickly integrated into daily life. She is house-trained, leash-friendly, and already knows some basic commands. Additionally, she shows herself to be a brave and open female dog who enjoys being part of the life with her people. She knows family life, has already been in the office including customer contact, and has experience with children and horses. Generally, Donna is compatible with male dogs, but dog encounters are a serious matter for her. She often reacts excitedly and impulsively on the leash. Experienced, confident people with clear leadership are needed to give her security and manage situations in advance. With the right handling and structured learning, she can calm down and accept other dogs. Cats should not live in her new home. Currently, Donna lives in Germany with her owner, but she does not feel comfortable in the urban environment. Too many stimuli and close encounters with other dogs overwhelm her. Therefore, we are looking for a home in a quieter environment, ideally a house with a garden where she can move freely and relax. Donna can be left alone without problems and still enjoys the closeness to her people. She would be happiest with people who can give her time, attention, and a clear, calm leadership. Physically, Donna is in excellent condition: at the vet check in 2025, she impressed with a perfect blood test. Donna still has so much love to give and wishes for a place where she can finally settle permanently – with people who understand her and give her the security she needs. Walks well on a leash.

About Donna

What life with Donna looks like

Donna is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
