adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Donut has found a home! His story: Sweet as chocolate. When you look at the little Donut, you can't help but feel weak. Donut and his brother Marlin were found on a cemetery. Originally, they were three, but the third puppy is missing. The other two, however, could be brought to safety by us. How they ended up on the cemetery is likely their little secret, probably abandoned there. Donut is a bit shy, but who can blame him. An animal shelter is not the right place for a puppy. He should be properly raised in a family that gives him love and security. The small, fluffy little fellow with his beige-brown fur and sweet button nose is currently 30 cm tall and weighs 4 kg. He is likely to grow to be medium-sized. Even though he is a bit shy, he enjoys all sorts of affection. He is puppy-type playful and gets along well with his fellow animals. Whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. Donut is looking for people who won't expect much from him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, he might make a little mistake, but we shouldn't hold that against him. He should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals and their dog parents upside down. They "forget" everything they have learned and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important to consistently – but lovingly – train them during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! If the little Donut has also charmed you, don't hesitate. The sooner the little man travels, the sooner he can enjoy his life and won't have to freeze during the cold winter. Donut travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with his EU pet passport in his luggage. He would also be very happy to go to a foster home. Thank you, Sandra B.! You have made it possible for Donut to start a better life with your name sponsorship. As of: 26.11.

Stand: 26.11.2024

About Donut

What life with Donut looks like

Donut is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Donut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Donut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Donut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Donut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Donut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Donut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Donut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
