Adopt Dora (Дора)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Seven years ago, a dog was brought to the veterinary clinic with almost completely rotted back. The skin had peeled off like a pancake, everything was pus-filled, oozing and smelled terrible. We don't know what happened to this little dog and we will never find out ... We simply took responsibility for this animal. For more than two months, Dora lived in the hospital until the wounds healed and new skin grew. Dressings, treatments, injections - all of this Dora heroically endured and never showed her teeth or growled at the veterinarians, on the contrary, she licked their hands during all the painful procedures. So the dog returned to life. Then it turned out that Dora had a misaligned fracture of the hind leg, the leg was twisted and the doctors said it was either an old injury or an injury from birth. In general, this poor dog has experienced a lot in her dog's life ... And so she has been limping around the animal shelter "Give me a paw, friend" for these years. But she doesn't regret it and is always happy to see people. The hope that such an old dog will be taken into a family is very weak, but we all do our best to ensure old age in love and care - this non-young dog Dora!

About Dora (Дора)

What life with Dora (Дора) looks like

Dora (Дора) is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dora (Дора), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dora (Дора)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dora (Дора) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dora (Дора) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dora (Дора) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dora (Дора) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Zaporizhzhia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dora (Дора) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
