Dorcia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Dorcia, this little female dog has been through a lot... she is very cautious and withdrawn, you need to convince her. She won't approach strangers - she will rather run away. She tolerates dogs and cats. Unfortunately, when she gets scared, or someone tries to touch her by force, or throw her off the bed, she will show her teeth and snap. Kruszynka is young, about 2 years old, unfortunately she has no vaccination history, so we do everything calmly, the next vaccination before her, and spaying will be possible in mid-September. This doesn't mean the little one can't go to a home - on the contrary, she can go at any time, because it's better to perform such an operation after adoption. She would benefit from animal company - a balanced and calm dog/resident, they would be ideal, so that Dorcia can open up and imitate their behavior. She is staying with Jimmy and the only thing Jimmy taught her is to bark. Beware, female dog may show separation anxiety, if the adopting family does not implement preventive measures before this problem arises right after adoption.

Dorcia, ta mała sunia wiele przeszła…eh Jest bardzo ostrożna i wycofana, trzba ją przekonać do siebie. Do obcych sama nie podejdzie – będzie raczej uciekać. Psy i koty raczej toleruje. Dobrze by miała jakieś zwierzęce towarzystwo – zrównoważony i opanowany pies/suka rezydent, byliby idealni, by Dorcia mogla się otworzyć i naśladować ich zachowania. About Dorcia

What life with Dorcia looks like

Dorcia is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Jestem Głosem Tych Co Nie Mówią in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dorcia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dorcia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Jestem Głosem Tych Co Nie Mówią handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dorcia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dorcia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Jestem Głosem Tych Co Nie Mówią will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dorcia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dorcia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Jestem Głosem Tych Co Nie Mówią early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dorcia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
