Doris

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Doris is a 3-month-old Herdenschutzhund mix, found in the woods with her four siblings, abandoned and left to fate. She and her siblings were fortunately found and rescued in time. Today, they are safe and protected on our foster home. But what Doris needs now is more than just a safe place. She needs people who show her that she is loved and that life can be beautiful. Doris is still a small puppy, eager to discover the world, play, romp, cuddle, and learn all the things that are self-evident for other puppies. Of course, Doris will still have to learn many important things: the dog ABC with house training, walking on a leash, learning boundaries and rules, all that is part of her journey. But above all, she needs people who show her with patience, calmness, and loving consistency how the world works. Like her siblings, Doris will probably become a medium to large Herdenschutzhund mix. From the small, adorable puppy, she will grow into a stately female dog with her own head and character. People who choose Doris should therefore enjoy not only raising her, but also tolerating her strong personality and giving her the security she needs. A Herdenschutzhund does not just want to function. He observes, thinks, and can indeed act quite independently. Doris therefore needs people with heart, patience, and clear structures - people who can win her trust and accompany her lovingly, confidently, and consistently through life. Doris has a beautiful, dense, fluffy coat, mainly in a light warm beige tone, especially noticeable is the dark marking on her face, around her eyes and forehead, a deep dark brown to black like a mask around her eyes. Unfortunately, she also had no beautiful start in life: the previous owner had her tail docked - which does not detract from her adorable appearance - but due to legislation, the little mouse may not enter some countries, e.g. Switzerland. But we wish her from the bottom of our hearts that her story will be a completely different one from now on. Who gives this little dog girl her own home and lets her experience how beautiful it is to be loved? A foster home would also be a wonderful stepping stone into a new world for Doris. She can travel from October after a positive pre-control and against a deposit. Doris will then be chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-free, everything is already in preparation, with her EU pet passport in her luggage. All the best, little Doris, for your further way! Dear Michaela, thank you for your sponsorship. Thanks to you, Doris has a chance at a happy dog life. Status: 29.09.2026 Further information on the topic of pre-control and deposit

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Doris

What life with Doris looks like

Doris is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Doris, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Doris?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Doris on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Doris if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Doris already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Doris isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Doris and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
