Adopt Dorka T

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

👉 ZurückDorka-waits at the animal shelter in our area - Dorka – the little flitzy with a big heart is looking for a loving home 🐾Dorka was found by a kind lady at the shore of the Körös River in Mezőberény – abandoned and alone. She was born on February 1, 2026, and is already a real bundle of energy. ✨Dorka is constantly on the move, always busy organizing everything, wanting to know everything, and even plays a confident little lady among the larger dogs. Despite her small size, she has a huge personality! Behind all her sass, however, lies a very sensitive little soul. She loves to snuggle and feel closeness, and she knows exactly how to demand attention and affection. Dorka plays a lot with fellow animals, but she also loves to flit around in the garden and just hang out with her peers. She weighs 3.8 kg, is 23 cm tall (as of May 17, 2026), and has a short tail with which she was born. Important for potential adopters: Dorka is still a puppy. This means she needs time, patience, and loving upbringing to integrate into our human world. She is looking for a home where she can be gently introduced to rules, everyday structures, and new experiences so that she can grow into a balanced, happy dog. Dorka wishes for a dog-loving home where she can burn off her energy, play, snuggle, and develop into a confident, happy female dog. Who will give this little sunbeam a loving, permanent home? We are happy to answer your questions.

About Dorka T

What life with Dorka T looks like

Dorka T is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dorka T, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dorka T?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dorka T on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dorka T if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dorka T already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dorka T isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dorka T and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
