Downy

Poodle · Female · Young · 2 years

Background / Previous History: Downy was rescued from a breeding facility in August 2025. In the summer of 2025, a large rescue operation took place involving over 300 breeding dogs from a breeding facility in Ganghwa, which were kept under miserable conditions. Thirty of them came to Brown Angel. Downy is one of the rescued dogs. Character Description: Downy is a gentle and rather cautious female dog who initially meets new situations and people with reserve. She observes carefully and needs a moment to feel safe - yet her curiosity is always stronger than her uncertainty. Her energy level is moderate to low. She likes to play briefly with other dogs, but also takes her rest periods consciously. She shows great interest in people and often quietly walks around them. She wags her tail kindly and comes closer, but when a hand suddenly appears, she steps back in surprise. However, if she has enough time, she gains courage and gently licks the hand. With sufficient time and patience, Downy will gradually gain trust and open her heart. She gets along well with other dogs and often follows them. She particularly likes meat treats. Although she is generally not very food-motivated, she weakens when it comes to meat. Compatible with cats?☐ Yes (likely)☐ No☒ UnknownCompatible with other dogs?☒ Yes☐ No☐ UnknownVaccinated?☒ Yes☐ NoSpecial Features: After the rescue, both knees of Downy were operated on due to a patellar luxation. She has recovered well from the operation. Downy needs a home that gives her time and does not rush her. People who respect her quiet signals, are patient, and are willing to grow together with her step by step will find in her a loyal, gentle companion.🐾 If you are ready to win her heart at her own pace and provide her with security, Downy will give you her trust and a quiet, deep affection for life. This animal is vaccinated.

About Downy

What life with Downy looks like

Downy is a small young adult poodle dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Downy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Downy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Downy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Downy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Downy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Downy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Downy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
