Adopt Dragon

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello, my name is Dragon, I am a large, very strong dog. I was born around June 2022. I first came to the animal shelter on June 14, 2023, apparently I was tied to a tree by the tracks next to Cmentarna Street. I was accepted, it turned out that I caused quite a lot of problems for my owners, so they decided to tell such a story, however, the emptiness in the house did not give them peace. After two days they came back for me, admitted everything. They received recommendations, advice, suggestions and were also informed where and how to get free behavioral advice. My happiness after regaining my family lasted until January 3, 2024, that day my family came again to the animal shelter. This time I bit a nine-year-old boy. Everything could have been avoided, above all, we could have behaved differently. However, it is worth noting that it certainly was not a home for me. A dog as energetic as me with unmet needs such as appropriately long walks, stimulating exercises (learning commands, interactive toys, etc.) and above all, a human-dog relationship at a high level. Unfortunately, I was greatly deprived of this. That is why problems began to appear, which only increased! Without appropriate knowledge or professional help from a behaviorist who primarily uses positive methods, it is difficult to achieve a satisfactory ending, let alone a happy ending in this case. I hope that every person in the animal shelter staff will do their best every day so that I am not frustrated and also so that I do not end up in unqualified hands. I am a good dog, I can fetch beautifully, I sniff a lot and that calms me down... I like to run after the ball, I undertake many games. And I will eat a treat if you are with me... You see, I know how much the human being means to me. I am currently living with my girlfriend, the beginning was different but ultimately harmony prevailed between us. You see, many things work in a place like an animal shelter, it's just a matter of taking care of the basics of each dog's needs and many things seem easier... Don't let me down, human, I'm waiting for you here...

Jestem dobrym psem, potrafię świetnie aportować, dużo węszę a to mnie wycisza...

About Dragon

What life with Dragon looks like

Dragon is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dragon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dragon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dragon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dragon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dragon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dragon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dragon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
