Adopt Draka

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 5 years

Draka – black as obsidian, full of energy like coal. Reference to Polish gold is mandatory with such a shining black coat and a wonderful character. Draka captures the heart at first glance. She looks like a compact version of a German shepherd. From a character standpoint, she is a faithful dog companion. Draka is full of joy and enthusiasm for working with people. We never stop hoping that someone will notice this treasure and give her the life she should always have. Life played a cruel trick on Draca, because female dog had her own home, but due to the worsening health of the caregiver, she returned to the animal shelter after two years. Despite difficult experiences, Draka still trusts people. We are looking for a wise, consistent, and patient caregiver who will surround her with love and provide a sense of security so she will never have to experience homelessness again. Female dog loves humans above all. Just show her a little interest, and she will give you her whole heart. A wise guide will show her how to use her innate talents and properly expend her energy. Close contact with other dogs can be exciting for her, but even with the challenges that inevitably come with life in the animal shelter, Draka is making progress in relationships with her canine companions. She is getting better at controlling her emotions when meeting new companions, and she already has a few dog friends in the animal shelter. We think that with proper introduction, she could live with a stable dog resident. What does our beauty need? First of all, activity, to use her natural energy reserves. Draka would be a perfect companion for outdoor play, exploring new areas, and discovering the world. After a two-year adoption, we know that the city center is not a place for Draka. Our obsidian beauty should live in a quieter area, because she better finds her way in silence and closer to nature. We also don't recommend her for a home with small children, whose energy may be confusing for her. At the same time, her strong hunting instinct rules out living with a cat or smaller animals. Draka's joy and curiosity about the world spread quickly. Everyone who built a relationship with Draka agrees that with Draka "even if it's the end of the world". Maybe you want to start a positive dragon with Draka? ;) If you think it's worth it to go through life in such company, don't wait, call. Meet her and see what Draka is like.

Z wyglądu to kompaktowa wersja owczarka niemieckiego. Z charakteru wierna psia kompanka. Z kolei silny instynkt łowiecki wyklucza zamieszkanie z kotem i drobniejszymi zwierzętami. About Draka

What life with Draka looks like

Draka is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs quiet environment away from city center, requires experienced owner due to strong hunting instinct

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Draka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Draka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Draka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Draka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Draka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Draka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Draka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
