Draka

Female · Young · 2 years

Draka is a young, just one year old, full of energy and character female dog. She loves toys, sticks and moments of madness that she can afford during a walk. Although she is full of energy, Draka walks very nicely on a leash - she does not pull and sniffs a lot. She is very willing to cooperate with the handler and knows basic commands. She is a bit of an individualist and values her space very much. She is not pushy and does not ask for pets - she accepts touch but when there is too much she communicates that it's enough and goes to attend to her own matters. The beginning at the animal shelter was not easy because our girl was very afraid and tried to scare everyone by barking and growling. Draka has trouble with strangers and to gain her trust it takes time and patience. Therefore, the future caregiver must be prepared that Draka will need time to get used to new places, people or situations. We are looking for a responsible and experienced home that knows how important it is to read dog signals and respect boundaries. People who have experience with dogs and know how to work with them. Draka should be an only dog. We do not recommend her for a home with children.

PL·Show original

Draka to młoda zaledwie roczna, pełna energii i charakteru sunia.

About Draka

What life with Draka looks like

Draka is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fearful of strangers, needs time and patience to build trust, requires experienced handler

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Draka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Draka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Draka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Draka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Draka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Draka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Draka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
