Drako

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

Normally, we could start with "Adopt a senior dog" for Drako – even though his pass suggests he is more of a senior, the volunteers at our shelter cannot confirm that. Drako seems to be doing something just right, which keeps him looking younger than his age. So far, at least. Drako is one of the shelter favorites among the volunteers. He is very happy out in the play area and enjoys running to burn off his pent-up energy. When he is satisfied, he comes to the volunteers for some cuddles and love. Drako appears younger than the age listed on his pass. Drako is charming and elegant, with a great size and loves all people! His former owners brought the beautiful fellow to the animal shelter independently because they no longer wanted to share their lives with him. This is very sad for Drako, as he likely had a good upbringing and was used to being around people. While Drako loves people, he does not seem to enjoy the company of other animals. At the shelter, he does not seem to want any around him, so we assume he would not want any four-legged companions in his new home. Therefore, we are looking for a place for Drako as a single prince with people who would spoil him completely. The days at the shelter are not going well for Drako, and he cannot seem to get used to spending his time in his small run. When he is confined there, it seems he knows it is a place where one should be quiet and not draw attention. So, of course, Drako is very happy about his small run, but it is far from enough to make him content and happy. For that, he needs so much more than the shelter can provide. For Drako, we do not have many requirements. He should find a loving family that has plenty of time to spend with him and explore the area. Additionally, he should get a comfortable sleeping spot, good food, and, if needed, the occasional unit in a good dog training class. Whether he has a well-secured garden to share, wide green spaces right outside the door, or whether he can live in a house or an apartment – you can discuss this with Drako's contact person.

DE·Show original

Bisher zumindest.

About Drako

What life with Drako looks like

Drako is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Drako, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Drako?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Drako on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Drako if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Drako already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Drako isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Drako and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
