Adopt Drax

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Please meet Drax 🐢 Drax is a large crossbreed of around 2 years old, who is now looking for a new home after remainging unclaimed as a stray πŸ˜” He is a very friendly boy, who loves everyone he meets, however, is a typical boisterious young dog that hasn't had much structure in his early life, so will need to be taught some manners when meeting new people. Drax is an active boy, who would really benefit from scent work classes, dog sports or lots of hiking and outdoor time πŸŒ„ We would be looking to place him in the home with children above the age of 12 years old due to his boisterous nature. He has a potential to live with dogs, should it be the right dog for him πŸ• He is not to live with cats or small furries. Drax also struggles being left on his own for long periods of time, and would need a home with the patience and time to help him build confidence with being left, because of this we are looking for someone who is at home most of the time 🏑 If you think you could offer Drax the home he deserves, please call us on between 11am – 2pm πŸ“±

About Drax

What life with Drax looks like

Drax is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hull Animal Welfare Trust in South Cave.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Drax, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Drax?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hull Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Drax on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Drax if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Hull Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Drax already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Drax isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hull Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Drax and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
