Dropsik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Dropsik was brought to us in April of this year for a spay/neuter surgery. However, a routine checkup revealed two things. First, the tomcat had already been neutered, although we don't know when or by whom. Second, the condition of his mouth was literally crying out for help 😱. As we've mentioned before, stray cats that come to us for spay/neuter surgeries receive a full medical checkup. If they need additional procedures or treatment, we never refuse them. We didn't intend to do otherwise in Dropsik's case. We wouldn't have the heart to release him back onto the streets with his teeth and gums in such a terrible state 🦷. The tomcat undoubtedly felt pain and discomfort for a long time - both during eating and simple hygiene procedures 😿. So we undertook dental treatment, which took much longer than initially expected. Dropsik's gums healed very slowly and with complications. Weeks passed, and we still fought for the health of his mouth. In the meantime, it became clear to us that Dropsik would never return to the wild. He never really made us feel that he missed it. He quickly settled in Mruczarna, appreciated every meal given, the warmth of the bed, and above all - the presence of a human ❤️. Dropsik is a very human-centric cat 😻. He loves people, jumps onto your lap and can literally wrap himself in your arms. He is a delightful, energetic and playful troublemaker who loves to play. He lived in a room with other cats 🐈🐈‍⬛ from the beginning. There were individual situations in which he tried to dominate his roommates, but for a long time it seemed to us that he was coping with the presence of other animals. Unfortunately, the last few weeks have changed our stance. Dropsik started to bother the other cats a lot and initiate fights. In the end, we had no choice - we had to move him to a small room where he lives alone. And that's why Dropsik's situation has become really urgent 🆘. We know that such a small space is definitely too small for his playful and energetic nature. Dropsik is an absolute loner, so we can't move him to any of the larger cat rooms. Today, he spends most of his time either in the aviary, which he really likes, or sitting by the door of his room and impatiently watching people passing by. We try to devote as much time as we can to him. However, with the number of cats currently living in Mruczarna, we are not able to satisfy his huge appetite for human closeness 😔. Our hearts break when Dropsik tries to invite us to his room with longing eyes and sad meows, so that we can sit with him for a moment and let him enjoy the warmth of our knees 💔. That's why we are urgently looking for a home for him - one where he will be the only cat, and the attention of humans will belong to him alone. We are convinced that the person who decides to adopt him will gain an absolutely unique friend. Dropsik is just waiting to give someone his whole furry heart 🤍. We are looking for a non-outdoor home for him. The tomcat really likes to lounge on comfortable beds in our aviary, so we want him to have at least a small, but necessarily secured balcony in his future home. Dropsik was born in the fall of 2023 🍁. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. There is not a single tooth in his mouth, but today he is healthy, and the tomcat does not feel any discomfort while eating - he may only require dental prophylaxis from the Caretaker from time to time. So if you have been thinking about adopting a cat for a while - maybe even the first one in your life - Dropsik may be a great choice. As long as he doesn't have to compete for human attention with other cats, he is one of the most friendly, cuddly and pro-human tomcats you can imagine. We strongly encourage you to fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire: pl/ankieta-przedadopcyjna/ Dropsik is currently in our Mruczarna in Słowik, in the Łódź Voivodeship. We guarantee that when you meet him in person, it will be very difficult not to lose your head and heart for him 🥰. And if you can't adopt Dropsik, but would like to help him, you can adopt him virtually. Just write to wirtualki

Mijały kolejne tygodnie, a my wciąż walczyliśmy o zdrowie jego pyszczka. W końcu nie mieliśmy wyboru – musieliśmy przenieść go do malutkiego pokoiku, w którym mieszka sam. Dropsik to bezwzględny jedynak, dlatego nie możemy przenieść go do żadnego z większych kocich pokoi.

About Dropsik

What life with Dropsik looks like

Dropsik is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at PrzytulKota in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dropsik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dropsik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PrzytulKota handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dropsik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dropsik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PrzytulKota will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dropsik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dropsik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PrzytulKota early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dropsik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
