Adopt Dunder

Male · Adult · 5 years

Original coat of Dunder makes him unique and undoubtedly attracts attention. He has just as unique and determined (and how!) character. On one hand a bit timid, cautious towards all new things (sometimes he "recovers" from stress with stomach upsets). He arrived at the animal shelter in a terrible physical and mental condition - inflammatory skin conditions and bites, and this hunched posture, characteristic of dogs who have experienced earlier violence and intimidation, indicated that Dunder's past was gray, sad, and dark. Fortunately, our Northern Wolf gradually opened up and allowed us to discover his other side. There is much to admire! Confident, curious, he likes dog adventures and often organizes our walks so that it's never boring. There is something of a horse in him (he likes to trot if he disagrees with the plan of the trip), and recently he discovered his mountain climber gene and checked how high he could climb on the fence. Quite high. Driven by curiosity, he studies clumps of grass (the higher and more it can confuse a person, the better), he likes space and the holy, undisturbed calm without a tight leash and the presence of strangers. He is sociable on the yard and on joint walks with his familiar group of four-legged friends. He avoids unfamiliar dogs - prefers to quickly pass them by. However, it is possible that he would easily find himself in a home with another dog that would help him grasp the concept of four walls other than the shelter's cage. We see that Dunder can adapt to many new situations, however, he definitely needs more time, patience, and an appropriate approach.

Oryginalne umaszczenie Dundera czyni go niepowtarzalnym i niewątpliwie przyciąga uwagę. About Dunder

What life with Dunder looks like

Dunder is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Stress-related stomach sensitivity, needs time and patience to adjust, history of abuse

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dunder, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dunder?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dunder on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dunder if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dunder already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dunder isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dunder and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
