Dusia

Female · Adult · 7 years

Dusia sees a human as her whole world. Dusia is tiny, adorable, and absolutely lovable. But most of all, she is a dog who desperately needs a human. Just step into her kennel, and Dusia is already with you. And as soon as you sit down... well, then your knees are no longer yours. Dusia jumps on them quite freely and makes herself a comfortable spot. Because after all, if there's a human, then you should be as close to them as possible! Dusia loves human contact. She's friendly, gentle, cheerful, and very thirsty for attention. When people walk by the cage, she barks and calls out. It looks like she wants to say, "Hey, I'm here! Take me with you!" On walks, she's a really good girl. She walks nicely on a leash, calmly explores the world, and enjoys what's happening around her. Dusia lives in a room with other dogs and gets along well with her four-legged friends. But let's not kid ourselves... a human is definitely the most important thing. ❤️ She came to the shelter in very poor condition. She was infested with fleas, and on her tiny body, there were whole nests of fleas. No wonder skin problems quickly appeared. Fortunately, treatment was started right away, and Dusia is now under our care. Now she most needs what the shelter can't give her in sufficient quantity - her own human, her own knees, her own home, and daily closeness. Who will love this tiny, wonderful Dusia? 🥹❤️

PL·Show original

About Dusia

What life with Dusia looks like

Dusia is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dusia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dusia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dusia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dusia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dusia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dusia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dusia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
