Adopt Duska

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

There are dogs that carry heavy stories in their eyes. And there are others, like Duska, who seem to have chosen to smile, even after everything. The lifelong companion of Duska was adopted... and she remains here at the shelter waiting... She entered in 2018... and had few adoption visits. Born in June 2013, she has an infectious energy and a very gentle look. 🐾 Big in size, even bigger in heart. Duska is one of those dogs that make us forget our worries: she runs, jumps, wags her tail and looks at us as if saying "life is now". 🌟 It doesn't matter what the past was, what she wants is someone to walk beside her and share this genuine enthusiasm she has never lost. And deep down, maybe that's what we all need: a companion who reminds us every day to smile. Date of Birth:

🐾 Grande no porte, maior ainda no coração.

About Duska

What life with Duska looks like

Duska is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Associacao Midas in Portugal.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting Duska, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Duska?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associacao Midas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Duska on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Duska if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associacao Midas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Duska already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Duska isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associacao Midas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Duska and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
