And if the corner’s too high? Well… then you just climb over it. Yes, you read that right. Dustin is a little mountain climber on four paws—curious, clever, and always ready to explore the world. So if you’re looking for a dog who prefers an active life to a boring one, keep reading. Visually, Dustin is a real knockout. His black coat is punctuated by beautiful light markings on his face, chest, and legs. These little “eyebrows” give him an expression as if he’s constantly carrying a charming mischievousness in his eyes. Combined with his warm brown eyes and friendly smile, he’s simply a dog you’ll instantly fall in love with. Yet Dustin isn’t all energy and adventurous spirit alone. Quite the opposite—in fact. After exciting adventures, he also loves being close to his people and shows himself to be cuddly and affectionate. He adores spending time together and would love to be part of everything. At about 1.5 years old, Dustin is at the perfect age: The wild puppy phase is behind him, but his thirst for adventure is still in full bloom. That’s why he’s looking for people who enjoy giving him plenty of physical and mental stimulation that matches his natural needs. Exciting walks, nose work, joint outings, or little brain teasers—Dustin would enthusiastically raise his paw for all of it. With other dogs, he’s social and easygoing. Right now, he gets along perfectly with a male dog of similar size. As for how he’d get along with cats, we don’t know yet—but we’d be happy to test that out if you’re interested. His New Year’s Eve was probably anything but pleasant. Scared by fireworks, Dustin was found alone on the street. Today, what remains most from that experience is this: Sometimes he needs a little time to settle into new situations. But once he’s had that moment, he quickly shows just how friendly, cheerful, and lovable a dog he really is. In short: Dustin has everything many people are looking for—charm, cuddliness, a love of adventure, and an extra dose of personality. And if you’ve always dreamed of having a four-legged explorer by your side, Dustin could be exactly the dog for you. ❤️🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-button Interested in adopting? Und falls die Ecke zu hoch ist? Nun ja … dann klettert man eben drüber. About Dustin

What life with Dustin looks like

Dustin is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dustin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dustin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dustin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dustin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dustin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dustin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dustin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
