Dylan

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 9 years

10-10-26 Please meet our little heartbreaker Dylan. Dylan was originally handed in to a local cat rescue in in May 2025 after being left behind when his owners moved away. He had been straying for years before he was finally taken into care. Dylan then came to Many Tears in November 2025, where, having spent so long living outdoors, he settled into life as a barn cat and has been with us ever since. Recently, Dylan was sadly hit by a car and, as a result of his injuries, needed to have his right hind leg amputated. He has adapted remarkably well to life on three legs and since his accident, has become much more accepting of fuss and gentle handling. We feel this lovely older boy deserves the chance to enjoy his retirement in a peaceful, rural home where he can feel safe, comfortable and loved. Dylan will need to be kept indoors for the first six weeks while he settles in and gets used to his new surroundings. After this, he would like safe outdoor access, away from any busy roads, so he can enjoy pottering around and having some freedom again. Dylan also has an old eye injury, which he arrived to us with. Our vets feel this is likely to have been caused by an old ulcer that ruptured. Thankfully, it is now healed and does not appear to be causing him any pain or discomfort. The tip of his left ear was clipped prior to arrival with us, which is usually done to show a feral cat has been neutered. Dylan has had a difficult journey and has had to adapt to some big changes, but he has shown us just how well he can cope. We hope that someone will give this special boy the peaceful retirement home he deserves, where he can enjoy his days in comfort, security and with plenty of gentle fuss.

About Dylan

What life with Dylan looks like

Dylan is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dylan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dylan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dylan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dylan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dylan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dylan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dylan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
