Dylan

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Very athletic, very intelligent, very attentive…always up for a joke and very handsome with his rosy-brown fur. This is Dylan – a true Podenco. Podencos delight all lovers of this special breed and certainly those who wish to become one: they are so special, being both very independent, self-assured-intelligent, active, and at the same time very clingy, cuddly, social, and very attached to their human. A Podenco cannot be fooled, as they take everything in with their ears, nose, and eyes. Importantly, they are hunting dogs who like to catch a mouse in the garden and naturally bring it to their human (alive). Having a Podenco is fun and never boring, but there must be a good balance between activities and cozy rest phases in the dog bed (or on the sofa?). This is also true for the sweet Dylan. He simply brings joy and life. For Podencos and Galgos, the fate in Spain is often very, very hard. If they are no longer (or no longer) fit for hunting, they are simply abandoned (at best!). This was also the case for the wonderful Dylan. More is not known about his past. Dylan now seeks his/hers people or his family, where he gets the cuddles and love he misses very much. He seeks his home, where he can arrive and stay, and where he can show his loving, playful, and active Podenconaturell. If his new home has a garden, that would be wonderful, but he will surely also be happy in an apartment with many green activities (at least initially on a lead – due to the hunting instinct). Especially beautiful for him will be when he can be with his primary caregiver or family and be cuddled a lot. Dylan will be overjoyed when he can travel to his new life… © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

DE·Show original

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Dylan

What life with Dylan looks like

Dylan is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dylan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dylan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dylan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dylan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dylan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dylan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dylan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
