Dżemik

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

Not every dog runs to the bars with joyful barking. Not every dog jumps immediately onto your lap. There are those whose presence must be noticed before it is felt. Dżemik is one of them. His presence is like a whisper—quiet, discreet, but full of great emotion. When you are close to him, you will not hear a loud greeting. But you will see a wagging tail. You can feel a gentle "I would like to, but I'm afraid." And you will understand that this dog has great potential—just give him time and be with him when he takes his first small but big steps. For whom is this dog? This sensitive one is looking for someone who looks with the heart, not with expectations. The ideal caregiver for Dżemik is a calm, patient, attentive person—who gladly accepts every smallest progress without pressuring results. This will not be a dog ready for life "already." But if you are looking for a relationship built on trust, shared rhythm, and deep understanding, you may be the person he is waiting for. Who are we looking for? We are looking for a quiet and peaceful home—preferably with a garden, although this is not a necessary condition. It is definitely more important that the new caregiver wants to participate in the process of taming and building trust. Dżemik gets along well with other dogs—their presence can support him. Experience with nervous dogs or willingness to learn and cooperate with a behaviorist is appreciated. We do not recommend him for a home with small children—too sudden stimuli may scare him. What should you know about him? This guy has made great progress. Although the beginning was difficult—he was afraid to leave the kennel run, every sound paralyzed him—today he is increasingly deciding to take... courage. He started going out of his box by himself, taking short walks outside the animal shelter. Gently wagging his tail, he is more willing to approach the caretakers, and recently allowed himself to be petted and really liked the licking mat. He is still cautious and withdrawn outside, but follows the person. Sometimes he chooses the company of the caregiver—shyly, but consciously. He does not show aggression even in difficult situations (e.g., being carried in arms), which speaks much about his gentle character. He does not require a lot of activity—peaceful walks, the presence of a close person, and the possibility of safely exploring the world are all he needs right now. There is still a long way ahead, but already today we know that he will walk it with confidence. He just needs someone who will go step by step with him. Dżemik to jeden z nich. Kogo szukamy? Szukamy domu cichego i spokojnego – najlepiej z ogrodem, choć to nie warunek konieczny. Zdecydowanie ważniejsze jest, by nowy opiekun chciał uczestniczyć w procesie oswajania i budowania zaufania. Nie polecamy go do domu z małymi dziećmi – zbyt gwałtowne bodźce mogą go przerażać. About Dżemik

What life with Dżemik looks like

Dżemik is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dżemik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dżemik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dżemik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dżemik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dżemik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dżemik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dżemik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
