Dzhmelik (Джмелик)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

This Dzhmelik has experienced what no living being should ever experience. He knows what the frontline and "0" are. He survived, hid, endured icy cold and hunger. He was evacuated in a bag. They brought him to Kyiv, hoping that maybe some living hearts would feel his sorrow and all the pain this cat-boy went through. Now he is in a cage at an animal shelter, which he is terribly afraid of. Was it all worth it just so he could try so hard to survive and sit 15 km in a bag until they carried him out from a dangerous area... And now it's very painful for him in the cage. Not physically - with his heart. After everything he has been through, he just wants to live at home. To sleep not in the cold and not behind bars. Not to wait. Not to fear. The scariest thing is not his past. The scariest thing is if his future will also be a cage. If you are reading this and it's hard for you - it means you felt his pain. Please don't walk by. Take the cat-Dzhmelik home. The kitten is neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms. He knows the litter box perfectly. It's time to do good deeds and save furry lives.

About Dzhmelik (Джмелик)

What life with Dzhmelik (Джмелик) looks like

Dzhmelik (Джмелик) is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Happy Paw Kyiv in Ukraine.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇺🇦Adopting from Ukraine

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dzhmelik (Джмелик), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dzhmelik (Джмелик)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Kyiv handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dzhmelik (Джмелик) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dzhmelik (Джмелик) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Kyiv will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dzhmelik (Джмелик) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dzhmelik (Джмелик) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Kyiv early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dzhmelik (Джмелик) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
