PIESEK DŻON OK. 3 YEARS 616093902623389 (232/24) SIZE: MEDIUM VACCINATIONS: YES BOKS: ALDAZ GRN. Arrived at the animal shelter on June 24, 2024. Found wandering on Kartuska Street. It needs to be clearly stated that Dżon is not an easy dog to handle. From the beginning of his stay at the animal shelter, he has shown significant confusion and stress. It's hard to say whether the animal shelter caused such behavior or if it was already present due to some past traumatic events. In the boks, he found a way to close himself off in his comfort zone: barking and then retreating to his kennel. For a long time, there was no opportunity to attach a leash and take him for a walk. Recently, he has made significant progress, as he now goes for walks and visits the office areas. However, he still hesitates when the leash is attached and does not want to return to his kennel. It also seems that he is extremely territorial and tries to defend his territory. This may sound discouraging, but at this moment, it's clear that he has shown his undeniable strengths. He knows basic commands. Walking with him is a pleasure because he doesn't pull or tug on the leash. However, he is very curious about his surroundings. He is not afraid of cars or airplanes taking off nearby. He is neutral with other dogs and avoids cats from a distance. He excels at fetching, although throwing the ball is still a bit of a fantasy for him. He can sense when he is being dominated, and then he comes over to offer a paw in reconciliation. He still has a lot to learn with his doggy brain, but he needs good guides who can read his uncertainty, confusion, and give him support at this moment. As mentioned before, he is not easy to handle, but it's clear that he has potential and only needs a chance to be more than just an animal shelter dog.

PIESEK DŻON OK. 3 LATA 616093902623389 (232/24) WIELKOŚĆ: ŚREDNI SZCZEPIENIA: TAK BOKS: ALDAZ GRN. Do schroniska trafił 24.06.2024 roku. Błąkał się na ul. Kartuskiej.

About DŻON

What life with DŻON looks like

DŻON is a young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting DŻON, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DŻON?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DŻON on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DŻON if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DŻON already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DŻON isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know DŻON and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
