Adopt Earl

Male · Young · 3 years

Earl is a quiet boy who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. He is gradually showing his brave side and is trying very hard to approach people, though he can still feel unsure at times and doesn’t always feel comfortable with touch straight away. Beneath all that floof is a sensitive and affectionate little soul just waiting to shine. Earl feels safest in his kennel, where his lovely personality really begins to show. In this familiar space, he will happily enjoy a gentle fuss and may even curl up on your lap, showing just how much potential he has to form close bonds. The outside world is still quite overwhelming for him at the moment. He has started some harness training, but when he feels unsure, he can plant himself to the spot. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, he will begin to grow in confidence. He has shown that he enjoys relaxing on the grass, which helps him feel more at ease and is a lovely starting point for building his confidence. Earl gets on wonderfully with other dogs and takes great comfort from their company. He will need a kind and confident resident dog in his new home who can guide him, reassure him, and help him learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. He may also be able to live with a dog-savvy cat following careful introductions. As Earl has never lived in a home before, he will need gentle guidance with house training, lead walking, and all the basics of home life. He is looking for a calm, adult-only home where he can settle at his own pace without too much hustle and bustle. Earl is a sweet, thoughtful boy who is trying his very best. With patience, understanding, and the right canine companion by his side, he will continue to grow in confidence and blossom into a loving and devoted companion. Earl has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Earl

What life with Earl looks like

Earl is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Former breeder dog requiring patient rehabilitation, needs resident dog companion, requires house training and basic life skills training

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Earl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Earl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Earl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Earl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Earl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Earl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Earl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
