Eddie and Thali Age: estimated 2022 (by veterinarian) Gender: male and female Compatibility: only joint adoption Housing: indoor only with a well-secured balcony/patio Health: dewormed, de-fleaed, chipped, neutered, FIV positive and FeLV negative tested Adoption Fee: 230 euros per animal Eddie and Thali are a young couple. Before Thali moved to Eddie's foster home, she had already lived there for over a year alone. Initially, this seemed okay for her. Over time, however, she showed that being alone was not enough for her. Now, she has found a companion in Thali, who is in some ways similar to her. The two FIV-positive cats are looking for a forever home. We will introduce the two of them first by their character: Eddie "the Cork Eater" Eddie is a really clever cat who can open doors, for example. Accordingly, clicker training is part of his evening entertainment program, as well as intelligence toys, hunting games, and his scratching board. The clever ones are often also the most sensitive. So Eddie, everything goes through his stomach. He shows it with smacking. A stomach gel ensures that the smacking does not lead to vomiting. Basically, Eddie is very people-oriented. He shows himself to his favorite person as a devoted cuddly cat, enthusiastic kisser and passionate purrer. But he is afraid of strangers and hides. He tends to like women more than men. Eddie finds older women especially nice. As a former street cat, Eddie has gotten used to the fact that food is no longer a scarce commodity. His prosperity fat is a long-term task that needs to be worked on. Eddie has one bad habit: he likes cork. He not only likes to scratch it - he also eats the cork. And because cork always floats, it has already brought him to a stomach operation. Nevertheless, Eddie would eat cork again at any time. So in his home, there should be nothing made of cork! Thali, crazy about cardboard Thali is totally crazy about cardboard, that's her habit. Give her a cardboard box or a scratching wave and she'll start tearing them apart with her teeth. She spits out the torn cardboard pieces. If Thali doesn't have cardboard to tear apart, it can happen that she tears her own fur. This serves her stress relief. Too much fuss around her should be avoided. Thali, like Eddie, comes from the street. There she had already raised kittens. Most recently, she had lived with her daughter in a multi-cat household, where she was completely overwhelmed and had withdrawn a lot. Thali is not a big cuddler, but she loves to play with her human. Then she shows herself as a very committed hunter, in which cat fishing, small balls and flying treats have no chance. She quickly shows herself and hopes that the visitor has brought something to eat for her. Because food is Thali's favorite hobby. In terms of food, she can't stand anything. Accordingly, she also pounces on Eddie's leftovers, which of course is not good for her figure. Thali should lose weight! With clicker, she can't keep up with Eddie, although she shows a lot of interest. But every cat immediately understands the scratching board and likes it. Thali loves to spend a lot of time on the balcony. Eddie also likes to be outside. Therefore, there must be a secure outdoor area (large balcony or patio) in the new home that can accommodate both cats. We wish for the two a home that is enthusiastic about a clever cuddly cat and a big player and is willing to spend a lot of time actively with the two. Every evening clicking, that must be. Eddie knows exactly when it is 8 pm! Further information about Eddie and Thali can be found on the blog of the foster home: fill out the adoption form if you are interested. Dennoch würde Eddie jederzeit wieder Kork verspeisen. Thali sollte abnehmen! About Eddie und Thali

What life with Eddie und Thali looks like

Eddie und Thali is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenschutzbund Köln in Köln.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eddie und Thali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eddie und Thali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenschutzbund Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eddie und Thali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eddie und Thali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenschutzbund Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eddie und Thali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eddie und Thali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenschutzbund Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eddie und Thali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
