Einstein

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born around 2017 Gender: male Neutered: yes Personality: friendly, initially a bit reserved Size: about 45 cm In the shelter since: March 2022 Hello, I'm Einstein. Many years ago, I was brought to the shelter. Back then, I was full of hope – fluffy, friendly, and open to the world. I really thought I would find a home very quickly. A nice guy like me must surely catch someone's attention… right? But it turned out differently. No one asked for me. No one wanted me. With each passing year, my hope diminished, and I withdrew more and more. I began to keep people at a distance. The once cheerful, curious dog became one who preferred to stay out of the way. My initial openness was gone. I slowly gave up. Then I moved within the shelter. Suddenly, I was with other dogs. And you know what? They showed me that people aren't so bad after all. That they bring treats, that gentle hands don't hurt, and that it's okay to be happy when someone comes to the kennel. And so, I dared to open up again. Today, I'm even often the first to run forward when visitors come. I gladly take a treat, I look closely – and if my heart says it's worth it, I can be quickly convinced. Then you can gently touch me too. Trust doesn't come easily to me, and I need a little time. But deep down, there's still the dog in me who loves to give love. My greatest wish? Finally, a home. People who give me time, who are patient, and who show me that I'll never be forgotten. Then I can gradually settle in – and show you how big my heart is. Maybe you're exactly the person I've been waiting for all these years? If you are interested in Einstein, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Einstein is ready to travel and can go to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and Leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Einstein has been taken over by Familie M., ensuring a full food bowl. Thank you on behalf of the dogs!

Und weißt du was?

About Einstein

What life with Einstein looks like

Einstein is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Einstein, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Einstein?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Einstein on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Einstein if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Einstein already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Einstein isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Einstein and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
