EKH Georgia &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

My name is Georgia. I am female, neutered, and born around 2020. I have been waiting since February 2021 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Georgia arrived as a found animal at our shelter, before an unattended population of animals began to establish itself in a garden setting. It would have been easier for Georgia and us if someone had reacted sooner when she was younger. She still cannot trust easily. She is now coming out of her shell when the food is served. This might be the training approach for the new owners once she has settled in. Georgia would also be the ideal companion for a lonely apartment cat, getting along wonderfully with fellow animals. If the new owners do not expect immediate gratitude in the form of affection from Georgia, this would be an ideal state. She could learn from her feline partner that nothing threatens her and that two-leggeds can indeed be quite competent servants. A secured balcony is desirable but not a condition. Should she later become an outdoor cat, much time must be planned to establish enough bond to the new home, and ideally, conditioning should be done at the time of move-in, associating the signal with feeding. Georgia is a creature that requires a lot of time and patience for acclimation and ideally an experienced handler regarding cats that are not directly on a cuddle course. If one wins her heart, then one is in the happy position of having a cat that only gives her heart once… Who would like to win Georgia's heart by giving her all the time she needs?

About EKH Georgia &#8211

What life with EKH Georgia &#8211 looks like

EKH Georgia &#8211 is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting EKH Georgia &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about EKH Georgia &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw EKH Georgia &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt EKH Georgia &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is EKH Georgia &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if EKH Georgia &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know EKH Georgia &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
