Elise

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

Elise is one of the smallest (estimated to be approx 15-18kg when grown)of beautiful puppies from our E Litter, a litter of seven who were brought to the sanctuary by their owner when they were around 8 weeks old. This is something we sadly see quite often. Once puppies are old enough that their mother has stopped feeding them, the owner then has to start buying food for the whole litter, and many simply cannot manage the cost. Thankfully, Elise and her siblings were not truly abandoned, and they have not suffered the trauma or distress that some rescue puppies sadly experience. They have been safely cared for and are now ready to find loving homes of their own. Like all puppies, Elise will need help with the usual puppy basics, including house training, lead walking, socialisation, settling at night and learning what is expected of her. With patience, kindness and consistency, she should grow into a happy, well-loved companion. Elise is looking for a home where she will be loved, guided and given the time every puppy needs. She has had a safe start compared with many rescue pups, and now she needs the chance to grow up as part of a family. Elise will arrive fully vaccinated and with comprehensive health checks, including a Uranotest Quattro, which tests for Leishmania infantum, Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma and the Dirofilaria immitis antigen. She will also have a test for Canine Brucellosis and her own Portuguese passport. Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Elise

What life with Elise looks like

Elise is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
