adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Elise has found a home! Her story: When we look at the pictures of Elise, a déjà vu effect immediately comes to mind. Maybe you remember Kirk? Kirk was one of the long-term residents in Bistrita. The poor guy was so desperate that he constantly tried to climb the fence to escape. Fortunately, he could be rehomed well. The two look strikingly similar. There is no doubt that these two are related. Not only do they share the same appearance, but they also share the same fate. Like Kirk, the beautiful Elise was caught by the Dog Catchers and brought to the public shelter. Fortunately, Elise then traveled to a pension in Germany, where she has already learned a lot. She lets her harness be put on and walks already on the leash, but she is still shy and needs time to get to know new situations and people. Elise is estimated to be around 4 years old and has a small to medium size, measuring about 50 cm. Visually, her spotted fur could remind one of a Blue Belton Setter with short hair. When her caretakers gently stroke her, she already allows it and shows no aggression. For Elise, we wish understanding and sovereign people who can provide her with a calm environment. A nice, fenced-in garden would be very important for Elise. She enjoys lying in the grass and basking in the sun. Elise is looking for loving people who can give her security and comfort. And who can teach her to trust people consistently. She herself should be allowed to set the pace. She gets along well with other dogs and a sovereign only dog could definitely help her during the initial phase. Elise is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings her EU pet passport and can be transported after a positive assessment. Who is ready to open their door so that the pretty Elise can leave her previous life behind forever? ❤️ Many thanks, Melanie! You have given Elise a name and thus an identity! A big thank you also goes to Selina L., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Elise. As of 15.09.

Vielleicht kannst du dich an Kirk erinnern? Stand: 15.09.2025

About Elise

What life with Elise looks like

Elise is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
