adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! So gladly would we give you a new life… Rest in peace, little Eliza…:-( Her story: Our little Eliza arrived in her foster home in mid-October and has enchanted everyone from the very first moment. With her charm, she simply wraps everyone around her paw! Despite her ataxia, she exudes joy, energy, and curiosity. Eliza loves the contact with people and her fellow animals. In her foster home, she lives with a male dog and a female dog—both of them she loves deeply and passionately. We can also imagine Eliza as a single princess, because she fully enjoys the attention of her people—and she has more than earned it after everything she has experienced. Her first walks are already mastered by Eliza quite well. Despite her small limitation, she manages to keep up wonderfully if she is not overpowered. She carries her name—Eliza, short for Elisabeth—“the one who trusts God”—with pride. And indeed, it seems she has never lost that trust in herself and the world, even though she has experienced so much bad in her young life. For Eliza was found alone and understandably completely terrified in a box in the forest in Romania, sick and injured. But all of that is behind her—today, a brave, lively young female dog stands before us, eager to arrive. Eliza is currently about 45 cm tall, weighs around 12 kg, and not only captivates with her white-creamy fur and inquisitive black eyes, but especially with her gentle nature. She is looking for a loving, quiet home with people who accept her as she is—slightly special, but all the more enchanting. A garden or a home with direct access to nature would be ideal for her, so that walks and small adventures are not in the way. Whoever meets Eliza immediately sees it in her eyes: She is a heart dog who changes everything with her gentleness and joy of life. Eliza can be introduced to her foster home very well. She is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has an EU pet passport. Age-wise, she has not yet been spayed. Some symptoms here are age-related. This animal is not yet neutered/spayed.

About Eliza

What life with Eliza looks like

Eliza is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eliza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eliza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eliza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eliza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eliza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eliza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eliza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
