Elizabeth

Shih Tzu · Female · Adult · 5 years

Elizabeth is a shih-tzu type dog, over 6 years old and weighing approximately 6 kg. She was found alone in the middle of a field, and all indications are that she was abandoned. Elizabeth is a very friendly but also sensitive and fearful dog. The shelter environment is not easy for her - she needs peace, a sense of security, and human closeness. She is well-behaved during grooming and veterinary visits. The dog still cannot walk well on a leash and will need quiet training. Due to her anxiety, we are looking for a quiet home for her without children, with a patient and understanding person who will give her time to get used to the new situation. Elizabeth also needs a safe environment. She should not be left alone in the yard - if she gets bored, the fence may not be enough to keep her safe. Therefore, she needs a properly secured area or a house where she will have supervised walks. We are looking for a person for Elizabeth to feel safe and calm and live out her remaining years. PLEASE BRING ALEWARD LEASH AND COLLAR When adopting, please bring Elizabeth. Elizabeth is under the care of the OTOZ Animals Shelter in Tczew. Registration number at the shelter: 198/26 The dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered. Contact for adoption: 58 531 96 56

Elizabeth szuka spokojnego domu! About Elizabeth

What life with Elizabeth looks like

Elizabeth is a small adult shih tzu dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elizabeth, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elizabeth?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elizabeth on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elizabeth if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elizabeth already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elizabeth isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elizabeth and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
