Ellie

Cockapoo · Female · Adult · 6 years

30-09-26 Ellie is a super sweet little lady who has returned to our care after a short adoption due to her adopter becoming unwell. She has come back into foster care and has made some lovely progress. When Ellie first returned to foster, she seemed very sad and withdrawn, sitting quietly in the corner of the sofa and not really interacting with anyone. After some time to settle, she is now starting to come out of her shell and is showing much more of her lovely personality. She loves sitting on the sofa having cuddles and fuss and will happily come over for treats. Ellie loves being around other dogs and will need a kind, friendly and confident resident dog in her new home to help her settle and continue building her confidence. She enjoys running around the garden with her canine friends and is doing well with harness walking when she has another dog alongside her. She finds walking alone more difficult, so this will need to be continued gently in her new home. She will also need a secure garden as she can startle and has been known to slip out of her harness. Ellie has never shown any aggression and is simply a very gentle and timid girl who can be unsure when approached too quickly. She can live with sensible, dog-savvy teens who understand that she may need some time and space to settle. She is mostly clean in the home but will need her toilet training continued. Ellie is a truly lovely little lady who is trying so hard to be brave. With a kind family, a confident canine companion and plenty of patience, we know she will continue to blossom and show just how special she is. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Ellie

What life with Ellie looks like

Ellie is a adult cockapoo dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
