adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Ellie is a wonderfully calm and relaxed female dog, who immediately captivates with her gentle nature. In everyday life, she is absolutely uncomplicated, pleasant, and a great companion. Sometimes, an inner Kasper comes out in Ellie and she causes a chuckle or two with her charming personality. Ellie is very compatible and social with other dogs. She lived in a pack in Romania and knows how to live together with fellow animals very well. On her foster home in Hamburg, she meets unfamiliar dogs outside with curiosity but politely and prefers to give them space rather than push herself on them. Ellie is not a sports champion, but she is enthusiastic about everything her nose demands. She loves relaxed walks, thorough sniffing, and small discovery tours. Checking out a mouse hole now and then is great for her, so a mild prey drive is present. However, when it comes to cats, Ellie forgets everything around her, so her new home should preferably be cat-free. In everyday life, Ellie shows herself to be uncomplicated, relaxed, and cuddly. She is house-trained, travels comfortably in the car, and walks well on a leash. She is also unbothered by city life and everyday noises. Still, we would rather see Ellie in a home on the outskirts of town or somewhere a bit quieter, where she can fully enjoy her relaxed nature. After a positive assessment, she is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and of course brings her EU pet passport with her. Has Ellie already won your heart? She is already in Germany and looking forward to meeting you. We thank heartily the namingsponsor Nele S., who gave Ellie her name. Date: 09.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 09.05.2026

About Ellie

What life with Ellie looks like

Ellie is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
