Elly &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Elly originally came from Belarus, was bought by a family, and thus arrived as a small puppy in Basel. Unfortunately, her breed and energy were underestimated, or the family was not aware of how demanding and time-intensive a small puppy can be. Since they could not meet her needs, they decided to place Elly in the hands of someone who could provide her with a more suitable home. Until she can move, she lives in a foster home at the Hundepension Grisette. Elly is an open, friendly, and very active young female dog. She is interested and has a lot of energy. Elly needs dog-experienced and responsible people who can ideally be familiar with her breed, integrate her into everyday life actively, and support her without overburdening her. Ideally, a home without cats, small animals, and small children would be best. Additionally, interested parties should inform themselves and inquire about the regulations for list dogs like Elly in their canton of residence. Elly is vaccinated, microchipped, and rehomed. For more information, pictures, and videos about Elly, visit the Hundepension Grisette's website: Elly. If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet them informally, apply using the button below, and we will contact you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can also request an informal application form directly from the Hundepension Grisette, where Elly is currently housed: if there is an answering machine, please leave a message, they will call you back) or by email: . We appreciate your understanding if the processing of your inquiry takes a little longer. We will do our best to provide a response as soon as possible.

About Elly &#8211

What life with Elly &#8211 looks like

Elly &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elly &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elly &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elly &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elly &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elly &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elly &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elly &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
