adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Elly has found her people! Her story: The pretty little female dog Elly is waiting to finally find her people. Unfortunately, nothing is known about her past – but her gaze shows that her start in life surely wasn't the easiest. Elly is about 1 year old, approximately 25–30 cm in size, and weighs around 8.8 kg. Her particularly short legs are especially cute, giving her a charming appearance. Add to that her gentle eyes and her pretty, multi-colored fur – simply irresistible! Character-wise, she is super sweet and very people-oriented. She gets along well with other dogs, but cats have not yet been tested. For Elly, we wish for a loving home with patient people who can show her how wonderful dog life can be. A confident only dog is welcome, but not necessary. Her new family should be aware that Elly has not yet known life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is in full swing. She needs people who can approach with love and patience, and may need to attend some positive dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will surely test boundaries and perhaps even "forget" some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Elly will definitely become a great lifelong companion. Elly is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU pet passport and can be fostered. The lovely Elly would also be very happy to have a foster home! Many thanks, dear Silke! You gave Elly her name and thus the chance at a new life. As of: 02.04.

Stand: 02.04.2026

About Elly

What life with Elly looks like

Elly is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
