Balou Belgian German Shepherd-Mix, male dog, born on 03.03.2016, unneutered, intelligent, vigilant, independent, and not a beginner dog. Balou was already given to our shelter as a puppy because the family with their 3 small children and the dominant male dogs were totally overwhelmed. He had already learned how to put children in a corner and assert his own will, which sometimes also had to do with the fact that he was separated from his mother and siblings at just 6 weeks old. He has a independent character and knows what he wants. For example, he shows jealousy and only tolerates a few fellow animals around him. Children and other animals should not live in the household. He is always friendly towards adults, but he needs a primary caregiver who can consistently and sovereignly take the lead. Additionally, a secure property must be available for him to meet his exercise needs. He doesn't fare well with warmth, as his fur causes him particular discomfort in the summer. Attending dog training classes would be beneficial. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Balou Belgischer Schäferhund-Mix, Rüde, geboren am 03.03.2016, unkastriert, intelligent, wachsam, eigenwillig und kein Anfängerhund. Balou wurde schon als Welpe in die Tierhilfe Seesen abgegeben, da die Familie mit ihren 3 kleinen Kindern und dem dominanten Rüden total überfordert waren. Er hatte bis dahin schon gelernt, wie man Kinder in die Ecke stellt und den eigenen Kopf durchsetzt, was mitunter auch daran lag, dass er bereits mit 6 Wochen von Mutter und Geschwistern getrennt wurde. Er hat einen eigenwilligen Charakter und weiß, was er will. So zeigt er sich z. B. eifersüchtig und duldet nur wenige Artgenossen um sich herum. Kinder und andere Tiere sollten nicht mit im Haushalt leben. Erwachsenen gegenüber zeigt er sich stets freundlich, doch er braucht eine Bezugsperson, die konsequent und souverän die Führung übernimmt. Auch muss für ihn ein gesichertes Grundstück vorhanden sein, um seinem Bewegungsbedarf gerecht zu werden. Mit der Wärme hat er es nicht so, denn sein Fell macht ihm besonders im Sommer zu schaffen. Der Besuch einer Hundeschule ist sinnvoll.
