Elsa

European Shorthair · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

Meet Elsa, a beautiful gray tabby female cat just over 4 years old. A gentle lady who is looking for peace, safety and a place where she can blossom at her own pace. Elsa has a sweet character, but is also easily impressed by noise and unexpected sounds. When it gets too much for her, she prefers to find a quiet and safe place. We are therefore looking for a calm home for her, without too much noise, where her boundaries are respected and she can approach others on her own terms. Elsa has always lived with Khloé, who is also currently up for adoption with us. She is used to the company of another cat. For Elsa, we think it would be nice if, once she is fully settled in her new home, she also has the opportunity to go outside. A quiet environment where she has her safe place, but can also discover the outside world when she is ready, would be ideal. Elsa may not be the cat who immediately comes to the forefront at a first meeting. But who gives her the necessary time, rest and trust, gets the chance to really get to know her gentle character. Who gives Elsa the quiet place where she can feel at home again? Interested? Then fill out our adoption application form as soon as possible and let us know why Elsa would be a good match.

About Elsa

What life with Elsa looks like

Elsa is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elsa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elsa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elsa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elsa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elsa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elsa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elsa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
